Photofairs Shanghai : Artists: Di Yang, Mustafa Boga
Overview

Nan Ke Gallery artists Yang Di and Mustafa Boga have participated in PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai 2026 from May 7 to May 10, presenting representative works in the special sections Insights and Perspective respectively.
At the fair, Di Yang presented new works from his Fernweh series: Ideale Szene der Zukunft and Ideale Szene der Zukunft II (2026). Based on the artist’s typological research into windows from different architectural periods in Shanghai, the works photograph and reconstruct window-frame structures from various eras, transforming the “window” into an interface for viewing inner and imagined worlds. Continuing his practice centered on acts of seeing, Yang combines site-specific photography and staged imagery with cosmic images sourced from NASA, allowing the image itself to become a medium for reshaping spatial experience.
During the fair, Yang Di also participated in the Insights Panel: The Future of Art and Photography, a discussion centered on the 50-year legacy of the Düsseldorf School of Photography. The panel was held at Fotografiska and moderated by curator Valeria Liebermann, with artists Hedda Roman, Juergen Staack, and Yang Di participating as speakers.

Meanwhile, Paloma Arts Foundation presented artist Mustafa Boğa at Photofairs Shanghai 2026, in the “Voices of Difference” section. As an artist long represented and supported by Nan Ke Gallery, Boğa’s presentation also marks an extension of the gallery’s curatorial trajectory.
Mustafa BoğaMustafa Boğa’s practice is grounded in a sustained engagement with the complexities of the contemporary world. He employs art as a medium to interrogate the entanglements of the world, humanity, and conflict, and how these forces continuously shape the fabric of life. This sensitivity to tension is rooted in his upbringing in southern Turkey, positioning his work in constant negotiation between personal experience and broader historical narratives.
