Chi Peng 迟鹏

Chi Peng is an internationally acclaimed multimedia artist and educator. Chi Pengs works use body language as a mediumto explore the communal relationship between the body and public space, and his works have been discussing topics relatedto homosexual spiritual consciousness and identity perception. He is also the first generation of Chinese contemporary artiststo discuss the theme of homosexuality.
 
Pengs creative career began in 2003, and he gained global recognition the following year when his student works wereexhibited at Chambers Fine Art in New York in One to One: Visions - Recent Photographs from China,curated by renownedChinese contemporary art curator Feng Boyi. Since this auspicious debut, Peng has presented over 40 solo exhibitions andparticipated in more than 100 group shows across 20 countries. Venues incude the Groninger Museum in the Netherlandsthe Helsinki Museum of Contemporary Art in Finland, and the Rubell Museum in the United States. His photographs arecollected by over 60 major art institutions worldwide.
 
In 2011, Peng had a large solo exhibition entitled Me, Myself and l, Photoworks 2003-2010occupying 1.200 square metersof the Groninger Museum, This was only the second maior solo show given to a Chinese artist at the museum, following AiWeiwei. Since 2012, he has also taught photography and self exploration courses at CAFA, sharing his expertise with thenext generation. in a pivotal creative endeavor from 2018-2020, Peng wrote and directed his first foray into feature flmmakingAs Water in Water.Based out of his Beling studio, Peng currently devotes himself fully to the jourey of making spellbinding paintings.
